Monsterpalooza

Celebrate the Art of Monsters & Movie Magic!

Monsterpalooza is a convention held in Los Angeles, California that celebrates horror, creature design, and makeup artistry.

It is typically held in the spring at the Pasadena Convention Center, and a smaller version called “Son of Monsterpalooza” takes place in Burbank in the fall.

Monsterpalooza first made its debut on the West Coast in 2009, after a successful trial run on the East coast in 2008. It has since gained international recognition as a destination for fans and professionals in the film, makeup, special effects, collectible toy, art, and monster industries.

The programming at Monsterpalooza includes presentations, panels, and workshops.

The spring event features a museum that displays props, masks, figures, and creatures used in Hollywood films from participating FX studios and artists.

The workshops focus on makeup and creature effects, with an emphasis on classic horror and modern horror, science fiction, and fantasy films.

The panels at Monsterpalooza have included discussions about the production of films such as The Shape of Water, The Predator, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Monsterpalooza is a popular event that attracts tens of thousands of attendees and is visited by horror celebrities and professionals from the film industry. Director Guillermo del Toro has described Monsterpalooza as “the monster convention I dreamt could be possible as a kid.”
