Randy Daudlin is a master of movie magic. Since 1983, he has worked as a professional makeup artist in the film and television industry. He specializes in both “straight” makeup (beauty and corrective) and “effects” makeup (gore, aging, and creatures).

Through his company, Illusions Unlimited Inc. , Daudlin has contributed to nearly every type of media available.

The Man Behind the Masks: Notable Film & TV Credits

Daudlin has led the makeup department for some of the biggest genre hits of the last decade. He served as the Department Head for all four seasons of the acclaimed crime drama Cardinal. He also held the same role for The Girlfriend Experience and Shadowhunters .

His recent work includes high-profile projects such as:

Daudlin is not just a hands-on artist; he is also a teacher and writer. He has taught at prestigious schools, including Complections International in London, England, and George Brown College in Canada.

To help the next generation, he published three reference books designed for quick use on set :

2. Reel Characters : Focuses on creating full character makeups.

Expanding into Writing and Directing

Randy moved behind the camera as a writer and director. He completed two feature films for Peace Arch Entertainment:

• Static (starring Kathleen Robertson)

He also wrote for the television series Game Nation and Forensic Factor. Currently, he has a TV series in development titled The Deacon.

The Novel: Blood Promise

In 2012, Daudlin released his first horror novel, Blood Promise . The story follows Detective Reg Martin, a damaged cop in 1990s Toronto who discovers that vampires are real.

Daudlin admits the book surprised even himself. “The book started as an exercise to see if I could do it,” he said. “Writing scripts is very limiting, but the freedom of writing a book is truly exhilarating.” He credits his father for pushing him to finish the novel . A sequel, Blood Rules, is currently in the works.

Industry Recognition and Inventions

Daudlin is the creator of “Total Tattoo Coverage,” a technique used to hide ink on actors. He also serves as the technical consultant for Jordane Cosmetics, representing their full line of special effects makeup .

He is a proud member of IATSE Local 873 (Toronto Make-up Department). Earlier in his career, he belonged to the ACFC technician union and the Canadian Network of Make-up Artists.
