Make-Up Designory (MUD) is a renowned institution that offers a comprehensive education in professional make-up artistry to students from around the world. This program covers the intricacies of make-up application for film, television, fashion, theatre, and retail.
Broadway. Fashion Week. Fifth Avenue. Madison Avenue. New York City has long been a hub for the beauty, fashion, theater, film, television and art worlds. When MUD’s New York Campus opened its doors in 2005, we were excited to create a center for aspiring and working make-up artists in one of the most bustling cities in the world.
Today, MUD’s New York Campus occupies the fifteenth floor of the historic American Express building in the Financial District. Our Campus is just steps away from Wall Street, Stone Street eateries and the Battery Park waterfront area. Students can choose from four comprehensive programs or individual courses, learning the basics of beauty, character or special make-up effects. They’ll also have access to career advisement, a robust alumni network and ongoing MUD Talks with established make-up artists.
The “Film and Television Make-Up Artistry” program is offered for those interested in SFX makeup. This program teaches the techniques necessary to prepare actors for the camera in order to bring characters to life.
Upon completing this program, individuals will be equipped to pursue entry-level employment in the following fields:
- Entry-Level Make-Up Artists in film and television
- Make-Up Artists on student films and small-budget productions
- Sales Consultants
- Freelance Make-Up Artists for weddings and social occasions
- Make-Up Artists at a salon (state licensing as a cosmetologist or esthetician may be required)
